Hans E. Junga

Hans was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 13, 1931. He developed an interest in art and began painting during his teenage years. His fine art education began in Braunshweig, Germany during the years of 1945-1949. From 1951-1955 he was stationed in Japan with the United States Air Force and worked as a cartographer. His commercial art career spanned the time from 1955-1982 as an illustrator, layout and design artist abroad in France and Germany, and then in New York City and Rome, NY. He was the art director at Midstate Printing in Syracuse, NY for 17 years before devoting the rest of his life as a professional fine artist from 1982-2010.

Watercolor paintings by Hans were part of group exhibitions throughout the country with the Oklahoma, Midwest, American, and National Watercolor Societies. He had over 20 one man shows across New York State and Germany, and received over 60 awards from regional and national competitive shows. He judged several art shows for festivals, guild and craft events including 8 years for MONY Scholastic Art Awards.

Hans enjoyed teaching watercolors and holding workshops for over 20 years in central New York and the Thousand Islands Craft School in Clayton, NY. Limited edition lithograph and giclee prints as well as notecards are available at Bay House Artisans Gallery in Alexandria Bay.

Hans K Junga

Hans K. Junga was born in Rome, New York on December 6, 1958. He received an Associate’s Degree in the Graphic Arts and has been employed at various advertising and printing companies working as an illustrator, photographer, and desktop publisher. He began his beekeeping hobby in 2001 with lessons and equipment given to him by his uncle, Leonard Vandenberg, who worked his way through college helping his father with his beekeeping operation in the Mohawk Valley.

He is currently a board member of the Empire State Honey Producers Association, Inc. and other local bee clubs in central New York. His apiary is located at his father's former home in Alexandria Bay, NY. The award-winning summer and autumn wildflower honey is available at Bay House Artisans Gallery in Alexandria Bay and other local craft shows during the year.
